AMPTRAN Motor Corporation

AMPTRAN Motor Corporation’s goal  is to develop and manufacture the state-of-the-art electric car that meet the needs of the consumers, by using nanocomposite Lithium Air Technology, to power the electric car to drive up to 400 miles between charges.

We aim to solve the most challenge of the EV market to day which is the range anxiety. We are a group of scientists and nanotechnologists with a passion to build a new electric car, not as a car that car makers have manufactured, but the electric car that you can drive up to 400 miles before you need to stop to charge overnight. This can be done with the art of nanotechnology, like the cell phone you use every day, without worrying about charging your cell phone.

We believe that the problems of the range anxiety can be solved not by the existing car makers which mostly would have a conflict interest with their existing internal combustion engine (ICE) cars.

The electric car problems will be solved by using nanotechnology to make advanced battery systems with higher energy density, the car body lighter, stronger, yet cost effective.

The chairman of the AMPTRAN Motor Corporation is Lloyd L. Tran, the Director of California Institute of Nanotechnology, with 20 years experience in product development. Lloyd Tran and his colleagues at NASA Ames Research has been working on the advanced nanobattery technology over the past 8 years.

Amptran has developed a novel Lithium Air battery technology with at least 5 times more energy than lithium ion battery. For example,  the Tesla battery using the most advanced lithium ion battery in the market, weighing 900 lbs to drive the car only up to 200 miles between charges. Amptran has developed the Lithium Air Battery pack that weighs only 216 lbs which is capable of driving the same car up to 400 miles between charges.

The AMPTRAN Battery Pack consists of an array of modular units of 4 Lithium Air NanoBattery cartridges; each weighs about 54 lbs with a capability of powering the electric car for 100 miles per cartridge. By using 4 units of Lithium Air NanoBattery cartridges, with a total weight of only 216 lbs, the electric car can power the car up to 400 miles between charges. Each 50 lb Lithium Air battery cartridge can be easily installed, removed and charged at home or rented or swapped, like a propane tank at many retail locations, such as gas stations.

The body of Amptran electric car is made of a  proprietary composite of fiber glass or carbon fiber that is lighter and stronger than metal, while cut down the weight of the car 25%, thus extending the range of the Amptran electric car to 400-500 miles between charge.

While consumers worry about the range of the electric car, survey shows that less 0.1% of all drivers actually need to drive 400 miles at any give day. By offering the range up to 400 miles, Amptran electric car takes away 99.9% anxiety enabling the driver to use the car in almost all situation

While achieving the state-of-the art, Amptran Motor Corporation believes that advanced nanotechnology can make good things better, more beautiful and affordable.

The Amptran electric car will be priced at about $45,000, with 400 miles between charges which will save consumer significant amount of gas money while keep the environment clean and healthy.

Driving an electric car surely saves a significant amount of money which normally be burnt along with the gasoline combustion while sending your money to overseas countries that do not share the cultural and belief with us in the United States.

Based on an average cost of $3.75 per gallon in November 2011, a typical gasoline power car will cost $60 per 400 miles. The Amptran will cost of $10 for charging your car at the comfort of your home. This is a saving of 83% of gasoline costs or $2,147 saving per year for average American who spends $2,587 a year on gasoline.

The early prototype of the AMPTRAN model 101 was on display on August 13, 2010 at the Concorso Italiano Exhibition, Laguna Seca Golf Course, Monterey, California.

The two-seater sport car AMPTRAN , powered by the AMP TRAN Nanobattery system will be available for large-scale production in 2013.
